Wardah Naeem Bukhari
Dr. Wardah Naeem Bukhari is a visual artist, curator and academic whose practice reinterprets South Asian textile heritage — Phulkari, and the endangered Patola craft. The youngest Fine Art doctorate in Pakistan and a Gold Medal recipient, she has shown in over 80 exhibitions across Asia, Europe and North America, holds two entries in the Oxford Companion to Pakistani Art, and sits in permanent collections including Italy's Imago Mundi. All of it lived scattered across exhibition listings, academic databases and social posts. We built the one place that holds it — an archive she owns and controls.

What was broken
An artist's site serves three audiences at once: curators judging the work, academics citing the research, and press needing biography and images. Each needs something different, and none should have to dig for it.
Problem solved
A significant body of work with no home of its own — spread across social feeds, gallery listings and academic databases, with no single link to send a curator, journalist or collector.
How we approached it
Lead with the artwork and let everything else defer to it. Quiet, generous layouts so the textiles read at full strength, a clear separation between practice, research and exhibitions, and a structure that keeps growing as she shows and publishes.

Mapped the full body of work — series, exhibitions, residencies and publications — into a structure built to hold a career rather than a single snapshot.
Art-first interface
Designed restrained, high-contrast layouts that give the fibre work room to breathe, with image handling tuned to preserve texture and detail.
Build & handover
Built on WordPress so she can add new work, exhibitions and papers herself, without needing a developer every time she shows.

For an artist, the site is a frame, not a canvas. Every decision removes competition from the work — quiet type, generous margins, and colour drawn from the textiles rather than imposed on them.
How it was built
Built for image fidelity and longevity: careful media handling so the texture of the fibre work survives compression, and a structure that stays maintainable as the archive grows.
